The anaerobic digestion (AD) and biogas industry in the UK has been underdeveloped for a long time but this is about to change as the new British Coalition Government has just committed to a “huge increase in energy from waste through anaerobic digestion” in its coalition agenda. With this commitment plus new financial incentives for AD and biogas, such as the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), Renewables Obligation Certificates and the Feed-in-Tariff (FiT), the biogas industry in the UK is about to take off. To meet the Government’s renewable energy targets, two new biogas plants will need to be commissioned in the UK every week for the next 10 years, so this is a massive opportunity for anyone involved in AD and biogas.

With these wide-scale opportunities in mind, The Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas Association (ADBA) is hosting UK AD & Biogas 2010, the first trade show in the UK to focus exclusively on anaerobic digestion and biogas. UK AD & Biogas 2010 will open its doors on 7-8 July at Hall 10 of the NEC (National Exhibition Centre) in Birmingham, UK and is set to provide a platform for everyone involved in the AD and biogas, waste, renewable energy, water and farming industries, to local authorities, planners and civil servants.

This two day trade show offers an exciting programme of free seminars, workshops and case studies covering all aspects of AD in the UK, plus a high-profile conference, ‘The Future of the AD Industry in the UK’. Issues ranging from policy, planning and permitting, feedstocks, co-digestion, grid injection, biofuels, funding and finance opportunities and many more will be discussed by key expert speakers ranging from Government Ministers, Lord Oxburgh, Sita, Defra’s Waste Strategy Team, the EA, WRAP, British Gas, Severn Trent Water, Ofgem, Lloyds Banking Group, The Cooperative Bank and many more.
